The Lower Roxbury Coalition (LRC) is a network of social, economic and human resources dedicated to improve the quality of life for children and families residing in the Lower Roxbury neighborhood by supporting and strengthening TBA families for a stronger, healthier community.

Who We Are
Lower Roxbury Coalition evolved from the We Have A Dream Coalition formed in 1992 in response to a city initiative entitled Healthy Boston. Today, LRC is a resident-led organization comprised of agencies and residents of the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. Lower Roxbury Coalition is currently funded through a multi-year grant from the Massachusetts Department of Social Services to support community-building efforts by helping residents, specifically those who are low-income or disenfranchised to gain access to basic opportunities and services. We provide ongoing support and family services in the Lower Roxbury neighborhood including family nurturing, youth programming, educational opportunities, workforce development, information and service referral, and community empowerment.

How We Do It
Lower Roxbury Coalition working with residents and organizations in the community, look at the needs of the community, and ways in which we can collaborate to meet those needs. A key element of this process involves the participation of residents as hosts, or focus group members, to develop a vision for the future of the community, and a plan for achieving this vision.

What You Can Do
Currently, we are focusing on issues pertaining to public safety, out-of-school time programming, parenting support groups; we need you to advocate for programs that benefit children and families; attend trainings and workshops; volunteer at LRC sponsored events, or programs.
